Mandem in Disguise Trend: Girls to Guys to Mandem, With AI

They’re not girls, they’re guys, they’re mandem in disguise. Upload one photo of you and your girls, and AI redraws the same picture twice: first as guys in the clothes you have on, then as mandem in black puffers, hoods up and balaclavas — same poses, same place. The page then cuts your photo and both pictures to the Skepta line, ready to post.

  • One group photo
  • Girls → guys → mandem
  • Same poses, same place
  • Cut to the Skepta line
Your photoYou and your girls, full faces

Leave the box empty and you get the last picture: everyone as a lad in a black puffer, hood up, black balaclava. For the picture in between, the one captioned “they’re guys”, pick “the exact clothes they have on now” and make that one first.

TL;DR

Rising · as of

“They’re not girls, they’re guys, they’re mandem in disguise” is a line from Skepta’s 2009 grime track “Disguise”, with JME and Jammer. TikTok picked it up in late September 2026 for edits of characters people mistook for girls, and on 25 October it became an AI photo trend: a group photo of girls, the same group redrawn as guys, then as mandem in black puffers and balaclavas. It is still rising — the main sound gains around 800 posts a day.

Mandem in Disguise Trend Examples

Sixteen posts from the trend, the biggest up front. The first fourteen are TikTok photo carousels — the girls, the same girls as guys, the same guys as mandem — set here to the sound and cut on the line the way they play in the app. The last two are the in-person version: a school-uniform costume and a winter coat with the hood up. What Does Mandem in Disguise Mean?

“Mandem” is London slang for the lads — your group of boys, your friends. “They’re not girls, they’re guys, they’re mandem in disguise” is the hook of “Disguise”, a grime track Skepta made with JME and Jammer on his 2009 album Microphone Champion, about men dressed up as women. On TikTok the line means exactly what it says: the people in the picture look like girls, but they are the mandem underneath.

The trend has been three things in a row, all on the same line. First came edits of characters people had taken for girls — anime boys, the Madea and Mrs Doubtfire films, White Chicks. Then the version this page makes: a three-picture carousel. Picture one is a group of girls, captioned “they’re not girls”. Picture two is the same photo with every girl redrawn as a guy, same poses, same clothes, captioned “they’re guys”. Picture three is the same photo again with the guys in black puffer jackets, hoods up and black balaclavas — “they’re mandem in disguise”. Some posts skip the middle picture and go straight from the girls to the mandem. The newest version is girls doing it in person, in a winter coat with the hood up.

The carousel is an AI trend in plain sight: the posts are tagged #chatgpt and #ai, and the second and third pictures are image edits of the first. That is also where the posts go wrong when they do. A general edit redraws the faces but moves people around, drops someone from the back row, or loses the pose that made the photo — and the joke only lands if the last picture is plainly the same night as the first. The prompt on this page holds everyone in their spot, with their pose, their hand signs and the room behind them, and only changes who they are and what they wear.

Because it is a photo trend, this page makes pictures, not a video. You upload one group photo, make the “they’re guys” picture and the mandem one, and the page records the clip in your browser: your own photo first, then the two pictures, cut on the line over the trend’s sound. It works the other way round as well — the F1 version turns the drivers into girls and then back into mandem — and it works with any outfit you type, from tech fleece to school uniform.

Timeline

  1. Skepta releases “Disguise”, with JME and Jammer, on his second album, Microphone Champion.

  2. A clip of JME explaining the “mandem in disguise” line does 1.35M plays on TikTok.

  3. The edits start: anime characters people took for girls, and a “Top 3 mandem in disguise” of Madea, Mrs Doubtfire and White Chicks at 1.45M plays.

  4. @avatarra_ posts a Steel Ball Run edit; its sound is the one most of the trend now uses — 23,052 videos by 3 November.

  5. The AI photo carousel appears: the girls, the same girls as guys, the same guys in black puffers and balaclavas.

  6. The biggest carousels, around 1.1M plays each, and a Roblox lyric video at 1.29M.

  7. Girls post it in person too: the winter coat with the hood up, “mandem in disguise as soon as it’s cold out”.

How to Do the Mandem in Disguise Trend

  1. 1

Upload one photo of the girls

A group photo with every face in it: a mirror selfie, a night out, the team photo. Two to ten people works best, all facing the camera.

  2. 2

    Make the “they’re guys” picture

Pick “the exact clothes they have on now” and make the picture: the same photo, everyone a guy, nothing else changed.

  3. 3

Make the mandem picture, then the clip

Clear the box, or pick the puffers, and make the second picture. Then press the video button: your photo, the guys and the mandem, cut on the line with the sound, about ten seconds long.

Tips for a Better Mandem in Disguise Photo

Everyone in the frame, faces showing

The edit can only redraw who it can see. Half a face at the edge comes back as half a guy, so crop the photo to the group first.

Make the guys picture first

The clip plays your pictures in the order you made them, so make “they’re guys” before the mandem, or the line lands on the wrong picture.

Poses make it

Hand signs, a drink, a phone up for the mirror: the funnier the pose in the first picture, the better it looks on six lads in balaclavas.

Any setting works

The big posts are a balloon arch, a football pitch, a lift, a pub, a staircase. What they share is a clear photo where every face is lit.

Try a different fit

The puffers are the standard, but the outfit is yours: tech fleece, school uniform, matching suits, or hi-vis over the puffers like the squad post below.

Only with your friends’ yes

Everyone in the photo is turned into someone else. Ask them first, and say in the caption it is made with AI.

        Use it responsibly

        • Only upload photos of yourself, of people who said yes, or of your own pets.
        • Do not use it to make someone look like they did something they did not.
        • Label the result as AI when you post it; TikTok and Instagram both have an AI-generated tag.
        • Use a photo of you and friends who are in on the joke, not a stranger’s picture or someone you want to mock for how they look.
        • The joke is the costume, not the people: do not use it to make fun of anyone’s gender.

        Frequently Asked Questions

What does “mandem in disguise” mean?

“Mandem” is London slang for a group of lads, your boys. “Mandem in disguise” means guys dressed up so you would not know: “they’re not girls, they’re guys, they’re mandem in disguise”. In the TikTok trend the girls in a photo are revealed as guys, then as mandem in black puffers and balaclavas.

What song is “mandem in disguise” from?

“Disguise” by Skepta, with JME and Jammer, track 11 on Skepta’s second album, Microphone Champion. The line is the hook of the song. Most TikTok posts use @avatarra_’s cut of it, “original sound - avatarra_”, 16 seconds long, which had 23,052 videos on it by 3 November 2026.

        When did “Disguise” come out?

Microphone Champion was released on 1 June 2009, so the song is from 2009, not new. It came back on TikTok in late September 2026, which is why people search for its release date now.

What is the mandem in disguise trend?

A TikTok photo carousel from late October 2026: a group photo of girls (“they’re not girls”), the same photo with everyone redrawn as guys (“they’re guys”), and the same photo again with the guys in black puffers and balaclavas (“they’re mandem in disguise”), over the Skepta line. Before that, the same line ran under edits of anime characters and of Madea, Mrs Doubtfire and White Chicks.

How do people make the girls-to-guys pictures?

With an AI image edit — the posts are tagged #chatgpt and #ai. Each picture is the first photo with only the people changed. This page does the same edit on your photo, keeps everyone where they stand, and then makes the clip with the sound for you.

Is there a mandem in disguise trend CapCut template?

The carousel does not need one: it is three photos over the sound. This page records the clip in your browser with the sound already under it, so there is no template and no watermark.

Can I do it with only one picture?

Yes. Half the posts skip the middle picture and go straight from the girls to the mandem. Make only the mandem picture and the clip shows your photo, then the mandem.

Can I do it the other way round?

Partly. Upload a photo of the lads and the prompt keeps them as they are and only changes the outfit, so the mandem picture still works. The F1 post went the other way, drivers shown as girls first; this page does not turn men into women.

Why do people write “there” or “their” mandem in disguise?

Just spelling: “there mandem in disguise” and “their mandem in disguise” are how a lot of captions write “they’re”. They are the same trend and the same line.

Is mandem in disguise an anime trend?

It started there on TikTok in 2026: edits of Joseph Joestar, Chihiro, Shinji and other characters people took for girls. The AI photo version with your own friends came a month later, and that is the one this page makes.

What is the Mandem in Disguise Trend AI prompt?

The they’re mandem in disguise prompt is in the AI Prompts section below. It starts: "Use the uploaded group photo as the base for the 'they're not girls, they're guys, they're mandem in disguise' edit, so it stays the same photo and only the people in it change." Paste the rest into any AI video tool that accepts your photos.

One Group Photo, Three Pictures, One Line

Upload a photo of you and your girls, turn them into guys and then into the mandem, and post it cut to the Skepta line.

Make my mandem in disguise picture

        Mandem in Disguise Trend Prompt

The prompt this page runs, so you can make the same pictures in ChatGPT or any image model that takes a photo. It keeps the photo and changes only the people and what they wear; the outfit at the end is the one thing you swap. The other versions — the “they’re guys” picture in the same clothes, tech fleece and caps, school uniform, hi-vis — are the same prompt with a different outfit.

        They’re mandem in disguise

Use the uploaded group photo as the base for the "they're not girls, they're guys, they're mandem in disguise" edit, so it stays the same photo and only the people in it change. Turn every girl and woman in the picture into a young man of about the same age: a different, believable lad with a man's face, jaw, hairline and build, not a woman with stubble. Anyone who is already a man stays himself. Keep each person in exactly the same place in the frame, with the same pose, the same hand signs, the same phone or drink or bag in the same hand, and keep the camera angle, the room or street behind them, the direction of the light and the grain of the photo as they are. Dress all of them in: matching black puffer jackets with the hoods up, black balaclavas, black tracksuits. If the outfit covers the face, cover it the same way on everyone. A real phone photo taken that night: natural skin, sharp focus, the same colour as the original. The same number of people as in the photo. No text, no caption, no sticker, no emoji, no logo, no watermark.

Other versions: They’re guys · Tech fleece and caps · The school uniform version · Hi-vis over black puffers
