Mi Chico Dance AI: Dance All Night With Your Own Crew

The Mi Chico dance is the one that starts with hands up by the head and ends with finger guns: DJ Goja’s “Mi Chico”, the song Jason Derulo turned into the sound of the summer. He pulls fans out of the crowd to dance it on stage, ITZY’s Yeji covered it, and on TikTok an AI bunny, five kittens, a fake boy band and a parrot have all done the routine already. Here you pick one of the sixteen clips, add a photo of whoever should be dancing — you, a friend, your dog — and the AI redraws them doing that clip’s routine in that clip’s spot, with the track still on it.

TL;DR

At its peak · as of

The Mi Chico dance is the routine that came with DJ Goja’s “Mi Chico”, the Afrobeats track Jason Derulo and Melody turned into a summer hit in June 2026: hands up by the head, arm rolls, hip sways, boxing punches and closing finger guns. It is still going — Derulo has been pulling fans out of the crowd to dance it on stage all tour, K-pop idols cover it, and since September the versions people post are mostly AI: a pink bunny, five kittens, a fake boy band. That last part is what this page is for.

What Is the Mi Chico Dance?

The Mi Chico dance is the routine that came with DJ Goja’s “Mi Chico”: hands up by the head, arm rolls, a brush down the chest, hip sways, a point, an overhead clap, two boxing punches and the closing finger guns. One person dances it, two trade the front spot, or a crew does it in a line.

The song is “Mi Chico”, by the Romanian producer DJ Goja — he told Kiss FM he wrote it wanting Afrobeats drums under the repetition of a children’s song, and picked a Spanish title because the language sounds like summer. It came out on 27 March 2026 through Gamma. Jason Derulo and the Brazilian singer Melody released their version on 26 June 2026, and the dance teaser before it had already been used in more than 250,000 videos. K-pop did a lot of that: TWICE and Hearts2Hearts pushed the song, ITZY’s Yeji posted the dance on 13 June for 2.1M plays, SHINee’s Minho did it in September for 1.2M.

What kept it alive after the song stopped being new was the stage. Derulo has been pulling people out of the audience to dance it with him, and those clips are the ones non-dancers actually watched: a fan in a leotard under red light at San Hejmo (1.4M plays), a woman in white jeans on a concert stage that TikTok titled “who is this ABSOLUTE DIVA” (745K), a dance teacher in Australia whose version the news picked up (2.4M). That is why “mi chico dance on stage” and “mi chico dance tutorial” sit next to each other in the autocomplete: half the people watching want to learn it in case they get pulled up.

The AI half started quietly. On 2 May @highonbubbles posted an AI pink bunny in rhinestone sunglasses doing the routine in a white studio — the first animal to dance it, weeks before Derulo’s own version came out. On 30 September @jyt, an AI boy band, posted five friends in a huddle over a phone and then dancing the routine on a plaza at dusk; it took 3.3M plays and 487.8K likes, and it is the clip every AI tool now uses as its reference. The same day @humantix answered with five AI kittens (1.3M plays, 147.4K likes), then pups on Venice Beach, then crocodiles. From 22 October the tools sell it as a template: five photos for a crew, one to three for a duo or a pet.

Which is the honest way to say what this page is. The trend’s own versions are already generated, and the templates fix you to one crew on one rooftop. Here you pick which of the sixteen clips you want to be in — Derulo’s supermarket teaser, the hall of fans he teaches it to, Jay Park’s stage, the AI crew’s plaza, a festival stage under red light, a practice room, a living room — and an image-to-video model redraws you (or your friend, or your dog) doing that clip’s routine in that clip’s spot, with the crew and the track still where they were.

One thing to keep straight while searching: “Mi Chico” is Spanish for “my boy”, but the dance is not a Latin dance and not the Mexican folk dancing the question “what is the famous Mexican dance called” is about. And “JYT” in the suggestions is not a step — it is the AI boy band whose clip everyone is copying.

Timeline

  1. The challenge starts: @del_daniel6 posts “New dance challenge mi Chico” with the routine to DJ Goja’s track, and it takes 6.1M plays and 863K likes — before Derulo’s version of the song exists.

  2. The first AI pet version: @highonbubbles posts a pink AI bunny in sunglasses doing the routine in a white studio. 73.6K plays, and the seed of everything this page makes.

  3. Jason Derulo posts the official teaser for his version with Melody — him and his crew doing the routine in one take down a supermarket aisle — and it reaches 11.4M plays and 912.9K likes, the biggest single post of the dance.

  4. K-pop picks it up: ITZY’s Yeji posts the routine in a practice room for 2.1M plays and 426.6K likes, and the dance is no longer only Derulo’s.

  5. A fan is pulled out of the crowd at San Hejmo and dances it on stage with him; the clip takes 1.4M plays and “mi chico dance on stage” becomes a search of its own.

  6. The AI wave lands: @jyt’s five-man AI crew version takes 3.3M plays and 487.8K likes, @humantix answers with AI kittens the same day (1.3M, 147.4K), and from there the posts are mostly generated — which is what the templates from 22 October are selling.

How to Make a Mi Chico Dance Video With a Photo

  1. 1

Pick the clip you want to be in

The supermarket teaser with Derulo’s crew, the hall of fans he teaches it to, Jay Park’s stage, the AI crew’s plaza at dusk, a festival stage under red light, a practice room, or one of the pet versions. Each clip is a different room, a different number of dancers and a different energy, and the clip decides what your video looks like — the model keeps everything except the dancer.

  2. 2

Upload one photo, whole body if you have it

One clear photo of the person who should be dancing: face lit, the outfit visible, one person per photo. The routine lives below the waist as much as above it — the sways, the two steps, the point — so a head-and-shoulders crop leaves the model inventing legs. For the two-dancer clips add a second photo, one person each, and say in the prompt which one is on the left.

  3. 3

For a pet, use a photo of the pet sitting up

Pet versions work best from a photo where the animal is already upright or sitting up on its hind legs, taken from the front with the whole body in frame. The model keeps its fur, markings and eye colour and gives it paws instead of hands, which is exactly why the AI kittens clip landed.

  4. 4

Generate it, then post it with the sound

You get the person from your photo in that clip’s spot, dancing that clip’s routine at that clip’s length, with the track already on it. Post it with #michico and #michicodance, tag whoever is in the second photo, and caption it with the joke you already had in mind: “he said he could dance”, “my dog learned it faster than me”, “booked the tour”.

Tips for a Better Mi Chico Dance AI Video

One person per photo

Two faces in one photo and the model picks which one dances, and you end up with a stranger in the lead. One photo per dancer, cropped to one face each — that is also what makes the two-dancer version work, because each photo gets its own body.

Give the model legs

The routine is as much hips and knees as hands: the sways, the two steps in, the point out to the side. A waist-up crop leaves the model guessing, and that is where these renders fall apart. Full length, in the outfit you want the dancer wearing.

Do not dress like the reference crew

The crew in Derulo’s teaser are in black jackets and white tees, and the model will happily keep those colours on your dancer too. Put the person from the photo in something clearly different, or the render comes back looking like the original dancer with a new face.

The finger guns are where it breaks

Fast hand work at the end of the routine is the first thing to go: fingers fuse, or the guns turn into a wave. Watch the last second before you post, and if the hands are wrong, run the same photo again — a second take usually fixes it.

Pets need a photo where they are already up

A dog lying on the sofa gives the model nothing to stand up from. Use a photo where the animal is sitting up or standing on its hind legs, from the front, the whole body in frame, and the paws come out closer to right.

Match the clip to the joke

The concert stage plays as confidence, the hall of fans plays as fandom, the AI plaza plays as a boy band, the practice room plays as “I actually learned this”, and the pet versions play as cute. Pick the clip that matches the caption you already have in mind, then write the caption.

        Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Mi Chico dance?

The routine that came with DJ Goja’s “Mi Chico”: hands up by the head with the elbows out, arm rolls one after the other, a brush down the chest with both hands, hip sways on the count, a point out to the side, an overhead clap, two playful boxing punches and the closing finger guns. It is danced solo, as a pair trading the front spot, or by a crew in a line.

What song is the Mi Chico dance?

“Mi Chico” by the Romanian producer DJ Goja, released on 27 March 2026. The version most of the trend runs on is the one with Jason Derulo and the Brazilian singer Melody, released on 26 June 2026 — that is the sound the clips on this page carry, and the remix keeps it.

Is Mi Chico an AI song?

No. “Mi Chico” is a real release by DJ Goja (Ovidiu Marius Goja), put out through Gamma, with the Jason Derulo and Melody version following in June; both are credited to the people who made them. What is AI is the other half of the trend: the bunny, the kittens, the fake boy band and every video on this page that puts somebody new into the routine.

Who is JYT in the Mi Chico searches?

The AI boy band behind the most-copied clip of the trend. Their five-man version — a huddle over a phone, then the routine on a plaza at dusk — has 3.3M plays and 487.8K likes, and it is the reference most AI tools use for their own Mi Chico template. “Mi chico dance jyt” is people looking for that clip, not for a dance step.

Can I do the Mi Chico dance with my pet?

Yes, and it is a whole branch of the trend. An AI pink bunny did it in May, five AI kittens did it in September for 1.3M plays, then pups on Venice Beach, a ginger cat in a living room and two parrots. Upload a photo where the animal is sitting up or standing on its hind legs and pick one of the pet-friendly clips.

Does the video keep the Mi Chico song?

Yes. Every clip on the page was posted with the track, and the remix carries the reference clip’s own audio, so the routine lands on the same beat it was choreographed to. You do not need to add the sound afterwards.

How much does a Mi Chico dance video cost?

One video is one use, 700 credits, at 9, 14 or 15 seconds. A single use is $9.90, and packs of 4 and 8 cost less per video. Failed renders are refunded.

        Do I need two photos?

One is enough — the dancer you upload takes the lead’s place in the clip you pick. A second photo is for the two-dancer version, where two people trade the front spot, and for the crew clips if you want a friend in the line. One person per photo, and say in the prompt which photo is which.

What is the Mi Chico Dance AI prompt?

The clip you pick prompt is in the AI Prompts section below. It starts: "A vertical phone video of the Mi Chico routine, shot at home in daylight, the camera at chest height." Paste the rest into any AI video tool that accepts your photos.

Dance all night, from one photo

Pick a clip, add a photo of you, a friend or your pet, and get the routine with the song still on it — no editing, no watermark.

        Mi Chico Dance AI Prompts

The five prompts behind the versions on this page: the clip you pick, the two-dancer swap, your own crew, your pet, and the concert stage. Each one works in any image-to-video model that takes a reference photo and a reference clip, and each keeps the room, the crew and the timing exactly where the reference has them.

        Clip you pick

A vertical phone video of the Mi Chico routine, shot at home in daylight, the camera at chest height. Image 1 is the dancer out front: they take the lead dancer’s place in the middle of the frame and dance the whole routine, face to the camera. The routine is the Mi Chico dance: hands up by the head with the elbows out, arm rolls one after the other, the chest brush with both hands, hip sways on the count, a point out to the side, an overhead clap, two playful boxing punches, and the closing finger guns. Keep the timing on the beat exactly as the reference has it. Keep everything around the lead exactly as it is in the reference: the same room, the same dancers, the same outfits on them, the same lights, the same camera angle and the same cut points. Audio: the reference clip’s music, nothing else.
