Tecktonik Dance AI: Put Your Photo on the Party Stage

Tecktonik is the French electro dance from 2008 — hands up, wrists flicking on every hit, glove lights and neon — and 2026 brought it back. The version going round now takes one photo and puts you on a red-lit party stage, mid-routine, with the crowd below you. Pick a clip below, upload a photo, and the AI redraws that clip with you dancing it: same arms, same stage, same sound.

TL;DR

At its peak · as of

Tecktonik dance AI is the trend of putting one photo onto a red-lit retro party stage and having it dance tecktonik — the French electro dance from 2008, hands up and wrists flicking on every hit. The dance came back in 2026 on the back of @cheba_man, whose “я чеба мэн” passed 17 million plays, and the AI version arrived in October with a CapCut template that has been used 88,416 times. It is at its peak: the template still gets about 3,400 uses a day, and new versions — Eunjin, Spock, a whole football team — keep landing.

What Is the Tecktonik Dance AI Trend?

Tecktonik dance AI is a one-photo trend: upload a portrait and the model puts that person on a red-lit retro party stage, mid-routine, dancing tecktonik — the French electro dance from 2008. The stage, the crowd and the track come from the clip you pick; only the dancer is yours.

Tecktonik itself — electro dance, or “Milky Way” outside France — came out of the Paris club scene in the early 2000s and peaked in 2007 to 2009. The routine is all arms: both forearms up in front of the chest, the hands flicking outwards in sharp geometric hits, one arm thrown out on the accent, then the other, with a small step on every beat. The 2008 version was worn with white glove lights, neon and a lot of hair. The “tecktonik brothers” clip of two guys doing it in a bedroom is the one everybody of a certain age remembers, and it is still the reference for the style.

The dance came back in 2026 on the back of @cheba_man, a Russian creator whose routine walks the line between serious and hilarious: a long coat, a completely straight face, the arms going the whole time. Spinnin’ Records covered him, Spain and Latin America made their own versions with fifteen million plays each, and French accounts started posting “2026 is the new 2006”. By the autumn the sound had left its own country, which is usually when a dance stops being a joke and becomes a format.

The AI version is what turned it into a format you can join with a photo. A CapCut template drops one portrait onto a fixed red stage — a raised platform, a DJ booth, a crowd below, festoon lights — and hundreds of thousands of people have used it; its English copy calls the result the “guys dancing meme”, because the wave started with several guys each doing the routine alone on that stage. The interesting versions go further: Eunjin of the K-pop group, Spock on the bridge of the Enterprise, a football team lined up in the crowd.

This page does the second thing rather than the template. Instead of one fixed stage, you pick the clip and the AI redraws that clip with your face and your body: the same arms, the same room, the same sound, and no CapCut watermark on the way out. The routine is over in eight to fifteen seconds, which is exactly how long the trend lasts on a phone.

Timeline

  1. @cheba_man posts “я чеба мэн”: a big man in a long coat doing the tecktonik routine at an electro party. 17.1M plays and 1.9M likes, and the dance is suddenly in the feed again after fifteen years.

  2. @spinninrecords posts “This creator is going viral for bringing back the Tecktonik dance”, 1.4M plays: the routine leaves the Russian-speaking side of TikTok and lands in front of a dance-music audience.

  3. @abbycoronaa’s “En mis tiempos esto era farmear aura” montage reaches 15.8M plays and 1.1M likes, and Spain and Latin America adopt the routine: @yosoydancing13 is at 14.8M by the end of the summer.

  4. The CapCut AI template lands, and @elsanna6 and @letsayhey post the first “retro Tecktonik party electro mechanical dance” results within hours of each other — one photo, the red stage, the crowd below.

  5. @bgk0065 puts Eunjin on the red stage for 523,900 plays and 102,600 likes, and the character branch starts: @brumoir.ai has Spock doing the routine on the Enterprise bridge a few days later.

  6. The template passes 88,416 uses at about 3,459 a day, while the real thing is still moving: @cheba_man’s Barcelona street clip takes 481,700 plays on 29 October.

How to Make a Tecktonik Dance AI Video

  1. 1

Pick the version you want to be in

The red stage with the crowd below it is the look everyone recognises. The Eiffel Tower at night, a plain room with a wooden floor, a room-practice cover, or Spock’s bridge are the other ends of the same routine — the clip decides the room, the lighting and how the joke lands.

  2. 2

Upload one photo with your arms visible

One clear photo as Image 1: head, shoulders and both arms in frame, evenly lit, nothing covering the face. The dance is entirely in the forearms and hands, so a tight headshot comes back with a body the model has invented. Add a second photo if a friend should dance next to you.

  3. 3

Create it, then post it with the routine’s sound

You get your photo dancing the clip you chose, at the clip’s length, with its audio already on the video — the remix keeps the reference’s sound. Post it with #tecktonikdance and #tecktonik, and caption it with the joke: “2008 called”, “my back hurts already”, “this is how you farm aura”.

Tips for a Better Tecktonik Dance AI Video

The arms are the dance, so show them

Every version of tecktonik is forearm work: the hands flick, the elbows stay close, the shoulders barely move. A photo cropped at the collarbone leaves the model inventing arms, and invented arms are where these renders fall apart. A half-body shot with both arms visible is the one to send.

Keep the hands in frame

If one hand is behind your head, holding a phone or out of the picture, the model has to guess where it was — and it usually guesses wrong for the whole clip. A photo with both hands visible and relaxed gives it the cleanest start.

Pick the room before the face

The clip you choose decides the stage, the crowd and the light: the red party, a dark club, a night street, a white room. Choose the one whose joke you want, then match the photo to it — a photo shot in daylight works in the red stage, but a dark, grainy one comes back looking like a different person.

Check the hands in the result, then re-run

Fingers are the failure point: six of them, a wrist that folds backwards, a hand that melts on the last hit. Watch the clip once before posting. A second take usually fixes it, and a failed render is refunded.

Say it is AI when you post it

Both TikTok and Instagram have an AI-generated label, and the comment section finds these videos either way. The version that travels is the one where the joke is obviously the point: yourself in 2008, your dad in 2008, a friend who has never danced in their life.

        Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Tecktonik dance AI trend?

It is the trend of putting one photo into a tecktonik dance clip. The AI keeps your face and body from the photo and redraws you doing the routine inside the clip you picked — the red party stage with the crowd below, a dark club, a street at night — with the clip’s sound already on the video.

        What is the Tecktonik dance?

Tecktonik, also called electro dance, is a French street dance from the early 2000s built on sharp geometric arm movements: both forearms up in front of the chest, the hands flicking outwards on every hit, one arm thrown out on the accent. It peaked between 2007 and 2009, worn with glove lights and neon.

        Who created the Tecktonik dance?

Nobody owns it. Tecktonik grew out of the Paris club scene and the electro-house nights of the early 2000s, and the name was a party brand before it was a dance — which is why it was never credited to one choreographer. The 2026 revival has a face though: @cheba_man, whose routine is the one everybody is copying.

        Who is Cheba Man?

Cheba Man, or Sasha Cheba, is the Russian creator who brought tecktonik back: his “я чеба мэн” clip has 17.1M plays and 1.9M likes, and the sound the trend runs on is his original sound. He now films the routine in Paris, Rome and Barcelona.

What song is the Tecktonik dance trend using?

Two different ones, depending on which version you are watching. The real-life clips mostly use @cheba_man’s original sound, an electro-house loop with the crowd under it. The AI red-stage results are posted over a retro electro track credited as “original sound - brainrottcity”. A remix here keeps whichever the clip you picked carries.

Why is Tecktonik dance back in 2026?

Because a dance everybody had agreed to be embarrassing turned out to be fun to watch. @cheba_man played it straight, Spinnin’ Records amplified it, Spain and Latin America made their own versions, and the French accounts that lived through it reposted it as nostalgia.

Is this the “guys dancing meme”?

Yes — that is what the template’s English copy calls it, because the wave started with several guys each dancing the routine alone on the same red stage. The name is vague on purpose: the search covers tecktonik dance ai, tecktonik dance ai trend and tecktonik dance template as well. Same routine, same stage, different name.

Who are the Tecktonik dance brothers, and where are they now?

They are the two guys in the 2008 bedroom clip — the “tecktonik brothers” — who became the reference for the style before the dance vanished. They are not behind the 2026 revival and there is no reunion: the clips going round now are either new creators like @cheba_man or AI results on the red stage.

Can I put a friend, a pet or a character in it?

Yes to a friend: add their photo as Image 2 and both of you dance in the same frame. A character works too — that branch has Spock on the Enterprise bridge, made the same way. Pets are the one version that does not land: the routine is arms and hands.

Is the dancing in these videos real?

The reference clips are real people dancing — @cheba_man, the Spanish takes, the room-practice covers. The results are AI: one photo, a reference clip, and the model redrawing the dancer for every frame. Label your own result as AI when you post it.

What is the Tecktonik Dance AI prompt?

The red stage party prompt is in the AI Prompts section below. It starts: "Image 1 is the person who should end up dancing." Paste the rest into any AI video tool that accepts your photos.

You, on the Stage, in 2008

Pick the tecktonik clip you want to be in, upload one photo with your arms visible, and the AI puts you through the routine with the stage, the crowd and the sound of the clip you chose.

        Tecktonik Dance AI Prompts

The five tecktonik dance AI prompts behind the versions on this page: the red stage, the 2008 dancefloor, a street at night, a plain room, and the one with a friend in it. They work in any image-to-video model that takes a photo plus a reference clip.

        Red stage party

Image 1 is the person who should end up dancing. Image 2, when there is one, is a second person who joins the routine in the same frame. The Person is up on the raised platform of a retro electro party: red and magenta wash over the wood, a DJ booth beside the stage, a crowd below with their arms up, festoon lights strung across the ceiling. The dancer does the tecktonik routine of the reference clip beat for beat: both forearms up in front of the chest, hands flicking outwards in sharp geometric hits, one arm thrown out to the side on the accent, then the other, a small step on every hit. Keep the face, hair, skin tone, body shape and clothes of @Image1 exactly as they are in the photo, so the person watching recognises themselves; only the pose, the arms and the dance are new. Vertical 9:16 phone video, held at eye level, one continuous take, photorealistic, no text, no captions, no logos, no watermark. Audio: the low electro-house track of the reference clip and the room.
