@aiforeva on TikTokWhat Is the Tiny Desk Outstanding Trend?
It starts with a real concert. On 5 June 2023 NPR Music posted Charlie Wilson’s Tiny Desk, and he closed it with "Outstanding", the song he made famous with the Gap Band in 1982. Nineteen seconds of it, Uncle Charlie turning to the band, grinning into the camera and waving a hand while the backup singers clap and the sax takes a solo, became a meme of its own: sports TikTok called it the "washed anthem" and played it over players past their best.
On Saturday 17 October 2026 five of the top seven college football teams lost. The next day a new account, @theburnerfromhe11, posted the "College Football’s Week 8 All-Loss Tiny Desk Concert": the same clip with Kalen DeBoer, Kirby Smart, Steve Sarkisian, Curt Cignetti and Marcus Freeman swapped in, performing like nothing happened. It passed two million plays in two days, The Athletic wrote it up, and every fanbase made its own: the NFC East coaches with Jerry Jones on sax, the Patriots with Diana Russini on sax, the Rams, the Cowboys, the Seahawks, the Knicks and the Spurs.
On 24 October a CapCut template turned it into a one-photo trend, and #tinydeskconcertai filled up with tutorials. The Tiny Desk Outstanding AI on this page does the same without the template: pick one of the Outstanding sets, add your photos, and only the faces change. The office, the moves, the camera and the song stay exactly as they are.
How to Make a Tiny Desk Outstanding AI Video
- 1
Pick an Outstanding set
Choose the reference on the right: the college coaches, an NFL or NBA team, the friend group or Charlie Wilson’s own clip. Your Tiny Desk Outstanding set copies its shots, moves and timing.
- 2
Cast the band
One photo makes that person the lead singer. Add a second for the sax solo and two more for the backup singers; anyone you leave out keeps their place in the set.
- 3
Create and post
Your Tiny Desk Outstanding video keeps the Outstanding audio from the reference, so it lands on the same sound as the rest of the trend when you post it.
Who to Put Where in a Tiny Desk Outstanding Video
The lead is whoever took the L
The joke is the casting. The coaches were singing the day after their worst loss, so give the lead to whoever lost the bet, the fantasy league or the group chat argument this week.
Save the sax for a surprise
The sax solo is the reveal: Jerry Jones and Diana Russini got the biggest laughs of the trend. Put someone nobody expects in Image 2.
Faces toward the camera
The lead gets two close-ups singing straight into the lens, so a Tiny Desk Outstanding video needs a clear, front-facing photo. Skip sunglasses, masks and group shots where the face is tiny.
Dress the part in the photo
Everyone keeps the clothes from their photo. Team gear makes it read as a losing-team set; a hoodie and a chain read as your friends’ band. Pick the Tiny Desk Outstanding set whose cast looks most like yours.
Pricing
Each Tiny Desk Outstanding video is one use (700 credits), whether you pick 8 or 15 seconds. The price is on the button before you start, and nothing else is added.
A single use is $9.90; packs of 4 and 8 uses, or a monthly plan that posts trend videos to your accounts for you, cost less per video. A render that fails is refunded automatically.
Autopilot plans
Every month we turn the newest trends into meme videos and post them to your accounts. Each post is one of the plan’s videos, and any you make yourself come out of the same count. Cancel any time.
One-time video packs
Pay once and use them on any trend template, at any length. The credits never expire, and the other video tools can spend them too.
Use it responsibly
- Only upload photos of yourself, of people who said yes, or of your own pets.
- Do not use it to make someone look like they did something they did not.
- Label the result as AI when you post it; TikTok and Instagram both have an AI-generated tag.
- The viral versions star coaches and players as parody; for your own, use photos of yourself and people who are in on the joke.
- This is a fan-made parody tool and is not connected to NPR, NPR Music, Tiny Desk Concerts or Charlie Wilson.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Tiny Desk Outstanding trend?
It is the TikTok trend of swapping new faces into Charlie Wilson’s NPR Tiny Desk performance of "Outstanding" with AI. It took off on 18 October 2026 with losing college football coaches, and the Tiny Desk Outstanding AI on this page does the same with your photos, keeping the set, every move and the song.
Which video started the Tiny Desk Outstanding trend?
The "College Football’s Week 8 All-Loss Tiny Desk Concert" posted by @theburnerfromhe11 on 18 October 2026, with Kalen DeBoer, Kirby Smart, Steve Sarkisian, Curt Cignetti and Marcus Freeman, who had all lost the day before. It passed 2.3 million plays and is the first sample on this page.
What song is in the outstanding tiny desk set?
"Outstanding" by the Gap Band (1982), sung live by its frontman Charlie Wilson to close his NPR Tiny Desk concert, posted on 5 June 2023. The AI versions use about 19 seconds of that performance, and the remix here keeps its audio.
Why do sports fans call it the washed anthem?
Before the AI trend, sports TikTok played the Charlie Wilson clip over players and teams past their best, so it got known as the "washed anthem". Putting coaches into it the day after a loss is the same joke, taken one step further.
Who is on the sax in the Patriots version?
NFL reporter Diana Russini, swapped in for the saxophone player while Mike Vrabel takes the lead. In the NFC East version it is Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. In a Tiny Desk Outstanding video made here, the sax player is Image 2, so you can cast anyone you like.
How do I make a Tiny Desk Outstanding AI video?
Pick one of the Outstanding sets on this page, upload a photo for the lead singer and, if you like, the sax player and two backup singers, and create. The AI keeps everything else from the set and gives you a Tiny Desk Outstanding video with the song in a few minutes.
Do I need the CapCut template?
No. The tutorials send you through a TikTok post, a template link and the CapCut app, and the template mostly swaps one face. Here you pick the set, cast up to four people and download the Tiny Desk Outstanding video in the browser, on your phone or computer.
Can I make my own team or my friends?
Yes. The viral sets are college coaches, the Patriots, Rams, Cowboys, Seahawks and Spurs, but Tiny Desk Outstanding works with any group: your fantasy league, your office, your team after a bad weekend. Pick a set with the same number of people in front.
Is this the real NPR Tiny Desk?
No. The Tiny Desk Outstanding trend is a parody of Charlie Wilson’s Tiny Desk concert, and this tool is not connected to NPR, NPR Music or Tiny Desk Concerts. The real concert is on NPR Music’s YouTube channel.
How much does it cost?
One video is one use, 700 credits, at 8 or 15 seconds. A single use is $9.90, and packs of 4 and 8 cost less per video. Failed renders are refunded.
What happens to the photos I upload?
They are stored in your account so you can reuse them, sent to the video model only for your render, and never shown to anyone else. You can delete them from your history at any time.
Does the video have a watermark?
No. You download a clean MP4, ready to post on TikTok, Reels or Shorts.

The person from Image 1, in their own clothes, fronts a funk band at the Tiny Desk: the lead singer turns from the side to face the band, then a wide shot of three backup singers behind the desk clapping and singing the hook in their headphones, then a close-up of the lead singing straight to camera, grinning, laughing and waving a hand, then a cut to the saxophone player blowing a solo into the mic, and back to the backup singers swaying on the beat.
